China Airlines 04 May 09, acaba de estrenar un vuelo charter entre Taoyuan y Chengdu. Sun Huang-Hsiang, presidente de la aerolínea, estuvo en el vuelo inaugural para asistir a una ceremonial a su llegada al Aeropuerto Internacional de Chengdu Shuangliu

China Airlines President Mr. Sun announced “As Taiwan’s largest carrier in terms of fleet and network, and with a fifty-year professional experience in the international airline industry, we are confident that CAL will provide the best service to travelers flying cross-strait.

China Airlines will serve one return flight every Sunday between the two cities in May, with a total of four round-trip charter flights. The initial flight to Chengdu, CI-7963, departed from Taoyuan Airport at 4:50am and arrived in Chengdu at 8:15am, and the return trip, flight CI-7964, departed from Chengdu at 9:30am and arrived in Taoyuan at 1:00pm on May 3. Airbus 330-300 aircraft will be used for the charter flights, offering single-class cabin service with 313 economy-class seats.

The city, Chengdu means a lot to China Airlines. In response to Sichuan’s immediate need for disaster relief and humanitarian aid caused by the earthquake in 2008, China Airlines took the initiative to offer free airlift services for aid materials, using a Boeing 747-400 freighter. The charity charter flying directly to Chengdu from Taoyuan was a milestone in cross-strait ties as the first-ever cross-strait humanitarian charter flight.

Chengdu has profound historical and cultural heritages, and is well known for its beautiful scenery and local culture. Famous tourist spots include Dujiangyan, Mount Qingcheng, Wuhou Memorial Temple, Thatched Cottage of Du Fu,Jinsha site, and the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center. And the natural beauty abounds in surrounding areas such as in the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area,Mount E'mei and Sanxingdui site.
