26-Aug-2009 China Eastern and the Civil Aviation University of China select flight training Australia for cadet pilot training.

Flight Training Australia Queensland’s largest flight training organisation, announced today that it has signed contracts with China Eastern Airlines (China Eastern) and the Civil Aviation University of China, Tianjin (CAUC) to train cadet airline pilots from the People’s Republic of China. Thirty three cadet pilots will commence their training in August 2009 with an additional 100 cadets planned over the course of 2009 and 2010. The appointment of Flight Training Australia by both China Eastern and CAUC is a significant step forward for the Australian aviation training Industry and in particular an achievement for Queensland as a world class training destination.

China Eastern is one of the three major airlines in the People’s Republic of China and operates a fleet of 287 aircraft with a network comprising of over 637 domestic and international routes. CAUC is renowned as the cradle of talent for China's civil aviation industry with over 50,000 graduates serving the aviation industry which accounts for one-sixth of all the civil aviation staff in China. Managing Director of Flight Training Australia Captain Peter Boughen said, “Flight Training Australia is very proud to have been selected by both China Eastern and CAUC as their Australian flight training partner. This recognises the quality of training provided at Flight Training Australia and is also evidence of Australia being a major player in the world pilot training arena. Flight training remains a growth industry in Australia and we are planning on expanding our facilities and bases further as well as employing additional staff.”

Flight Training Australia was earlier this year awarded the prestigious Civil Aviation Authority of China Part 141 Pilot School Certificate authorising Flight Training Australia to train pilots from the People’s Republic of China. Flight Training Australia is one of only five Flight Training Organisations in Australia and the only Flight Training Organisation in Queensland to hold this approval.
