These direct flights will be operated three times weekly, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. These flights complement the existing four weekly flights to Beijing operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, hence offering a daily flight from Belgium to China. Hainan Airlines earlier announced to add extra Beijing flights from Brussels, making Beijing a daily destination as from this summer. Now instead, in response to high market demand Hainan Airlines adds Shanghai as a new destination. All flights will be operated with Airbus 330 aircraft, offering 36 180° flat bed seats in business class and 186 seats in economy. All 222 seats are equipped with a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system with personal touch screens. This is an excellent moment to introduce direct flights to Shanghai, comments Liang Pubin, General Manager for Hainan in Europe: “The Shanghai 2010 Expo is expected to generate the largest number of visitors in the history of the World Expo’s. For many this will be an excellent reason to discover this charming destination. Belgium has strong ties with the city of Shanghai and the surrounding region. This new direct flight will facilitate new business between our countries, and will be very welcome to business people at both ends”.
