In July, a traditional peak season for travel, traffic continued to exhibit encouraging signs of recovery. Air China saw across-the-board year-over-year growth in passenger traffic in all markets. Domestic and regional markets recorded double-digit growth in both passenger traffic and the number of passenger carried compared with the same period last year. International routes also recorded year-over-year increase in passenger traffic and the number of passengers carried for the first time this year. In the cargo market, the Company saw a continuous decline year-over-year, but improved compared with the last month.

Air traffic at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) further stabilised in July, with year-on-year drops in passenger throughput, cargo tonnage and air traffic movements narrowing from the previous month. Cargo traffic saw an improvement from the double-digit plunges that had been recorded since November 2008. During July the airport handled a total of 291,000 tonnes of cargo, 4 million passenger trips and 23,315 air traffic movements, representing year-on-year decreases of 8.3%, 9.5%, and 9.9%, respectively.

Perot Systems Corporation announced that the company has entered in to an agreement to provide consulting services to HNA Group to improve its airline reservations systems. After earlier launching charter flights from Taipei to Shizuoka, China Airlines now plans to inaugurate charter flights from Kaohsiung to Shizuoka. Goodrich Corporation opened a new facility in China’s Tianjin Airport Industrial Park to support nacelle and thrust reverser original equipment as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activities. The 50,000 square foot facility will perform nacelle and thrust reverser MRO work for customers in the region. Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) today declared a final dividend of HKD2,200 million to its shareholder, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, for the financial year ended 31 March 2009, an increase of 10.0% on the previous year. CHINA : ST Aerospace announced (24-Jun-2009) that it has signed an eight-year component Maintenance-By-the-Hour (MBH) programme contract with Shanghai Airlines. This USD21m contract for component MBH support includes repair management and pool access for Shanghai Airlines’ fleet of 10 Airbus A321 aircraft. With this contract that commences in July this year, ST Aerospace further expands the scope of services offered to Shanghai Airlines, which is an established customer for engines and components maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO).

Airbus today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), one of China's leading banks, on cooperation in aircraft financing and leasing. Qingdao Liuting International Airport Group completed a site plan for a proposed second airport in Jun-2009, now subject to government approval, due to expectations the current airport will reach full capacity of 16 million passengers p/a in 2015. The first A320 aircraft assembled outside Europe in the Airbus Final Assembly Line China (FALC) successfully completed its first flight (18-May-2009. The aircraft took off from Tianjin International Airport at 10:42 am and landed at 14:56. The four hour and fourteen minute test flight was jointly captained by Harry Nelson, Vice President Production Flight Tests and by Experimental Test Pilot Philippe Pellerin. Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) recorded a mild growth of 4.1% in passenger traffic in April, representing 4.2 million, which was mainly stimulated by an increase in travel by local residents during the Easter holidays. Cargo throughput fell 19.8% to 257,000 tonnes and air traffic movements declined 3.7% to 24,090, in comparison to the corresponding month in 2008.

CHINA : Shandong Airlines reported an 18.8% increase in net profit year-on-year for the 12 months ended 31-Dec-08, to USD11.9 million. However, the airline reported a 35.7% fall in operating profit for the year, to USD11.1 million.
